ZFast CRT + dotmask?

Is there a way to replace the aperture grille effect with a dotmask effect? I think this could look really good because of the way the scanlines work in this shader and the “mask/scanline fade” option.

I tried stacking the dotmask shader with zfast, but couldn’t get that to work.

A post was split to a new topic: How to combine shaders

I just couldn’t get full speed at 1920x1080 on an rpi3 with anything more complicated than a monochrome fake aperture grille effect. So that’s all that was included. I might be able to make a slower version if you were still interested in it.

Thanks! HunterK actually already combined the two- see “How to combine shaders”

So far, I think this is the best compromise in terms of brightness and objective picture quality. The scanlines and mask effect cause so much brightness to be lost that you have to compromise on either brightness, contrast, color accuracy, or mask/scanline strength/accuracy. This is true even on brighter LED-lit LCDs; the display I’m using reaches ~400 cd/m2 with brightness and contrast maxed out, and it’s still not enough. For what I’m trying to do, I think you really need HDR, or at least an HDR-capable display.
