Potential Spoiler Alert

@Cyber I’m responding here for : link

It’s difficult to explain and for me to capture properly but basically for me 100% mask is unacceptably low contrast due to my display. I find that even 90% mask is significantly brighter than 100%. Obviously low contrast does change colors. BTW congrats on the new release! Amazing work on that shadow mask – magic. I’m using the aperture GX presets with the small change that they ultimately reference their glass version. For example:

MBZ__0__SMOOTH-ADV__GDV

becomes

MBZ__0__SMOOTH-ADV-GLASS__GDV

Well you can take some photos of the screen, trying your best to get a few that look true to what you’re seeing.

I’m on a Samsung Phone and I used Pro Mode: ISO 200, SPEED 1/60 or 1/30, Focus Manual and White Balance 5300K for many of my most recent photos.

What you’re experiencing could also be related to the settings of your TV. Based on what I’ve read in forums many people who purchase LG OLED TVs go straight into burn-in panic mode and neuter their sets or are advised to do so.

You have to be careful with Power Management, OLED Light and White Point/Color Temperature settings and lastly Black Level.

Also, make sure Windows is correctly outputting RGB 4:4:4 Full and you have HDMI Deep Color Enabled for your input. If your desktop refresh rate is currently set to 120Hz or you’re using HDR in Windows, try temporarily setting your refresh rate to 60Hz and disabling HDR as well as VRR.

These are my current TV settings:

Energy Saving - Medium

Picture Mode Settings

  • Game (User)

  • OLED LIGHT - 95

  • CONTRAST - 85

  • BRIGHTNESS - 56

  • SHARPNESS - 0

  • Color - 50

  • Tint - 0

  • Color Temperature - C30

Advanced Controls

  • Gamma - Medium

Picture Options

  • Black Level - Low

  • Motion Eye Care - Off

HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color is also On

And my Input Label is set to PC

If you’re experiencing yellowish whites it could very well be that your TV is set to a warmer color temperature.

If you’re getting a lack of Contrast or Brightness then maybe your OLED Light and/or Brightness setting is too low relative to mine or your Energy Saving setting might be too High (Aggressive) relative to mine.

Feel free to get back to me on this.

Thanks a lot. I try my best.

Hey, Cyber! I’ve been following, recommending and using your shaders for some time. All those platform specific shaders that you posted look amazing but they look a little dark on my screen. Is there any specific setting that you recomend changin in shader parameters to calibrate them to my screen without loosing the intended look?

Thanks @turnupthetaste!

Either turn up the brightness, backlight or gamma on your screen slightly or just raise Gamma_C a little at a time.

Feel free to report back.

I love those magazines, those times were the best in gaming console…

Definitely! That was what we had before tech news websites and TechTubers. I learned a lot from reading those.

Nice! If you’re interested I have found this channel lately https://www.youtube.com/@FDestroy3r.

This guy is French but his CRT Hunt series and RGB play are great, show casing a variety of consumer CRT’s.

Thanks, I’m more interested in high quality videos and pics of old school gaming where the CRT is in proper focus, stabilized and isn’t over or underexposed. So as faithful to an in person representation as possible.

I’ll like to know about something, which is the difference between your blargg ntsc filter vs the core blargg filter from genesis gx? and also the same for snes and snes9x

This is based on the Blargg-NTSC Filter which was specifically made for Sega Genesis emulator output. The presets are fixed.

My CyberLab Blargg NTSC Filter Presets use the Blargg filter designed for SNES with my tweaked settings.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Are you asking me what is the difference between BSNES and Snes9X?
