Duimon - HSM Mega Bezel Graphics and Presets - Feedback and Updates

It is weird that the debug parameter would be enabled. (It is not by default.)

Although you can install by updating the slang shaders, I would recommend that you go to @HyperspaceMadness’s thread and follow the link to his release. It is not guaranteed that the one available in RA is up to date.

Hi, is it possibile remove or change splash screen? If yes, how? Thanks

There is a parameter for disabling it and an image that can be replaced.

You can read my Boilerplate Introduction guide for more info.

If you need specifics I can post when I get home.

Is there a way to configure the regular Nintendo DS to work properly with this overlay? It’s a fantastic shader because it fills the screen, whereas the NDS shader unfortunately leaves black bars.

This is as good as you can get until I create an NDS Hybrid graphic.

NDS_Hybrid.slangp

#reference "Mega_Bezel_Community/Duimon-Mega-Bezel/Presets/Standard/Nintendo_3DS/3DS-[STD]-[Guest].slangp"
HSM_FLIP_VIEWPORT_VERTICAL = "0.000000"
HSM_SCREEN_POSITION_X = "-111.000000"
HSM_2ND_SCREEN_ASPECT_RATIO_MODE = "0.000000"
HSM_2ND_SCREEN_POS_X = "-5.000000"
HSM_2ND_SCREEN_CROP_PERCENT_LEFT = "0.000000"
HSM_2ND_SCREEN_CROP_PERCENT_RIGHT = "0.000000"

I will get one done ASAP. (Probably not this weekend though, due to RL.)

Thank you very much for the parameters; I look forward to seeing the bezel! Love your work.

Hello, Duimon, I discovered your shaders a few months ago, and these days I finally decided to install Retroarch and set up the emulators with your presets and overlays. You’ve done a marvelous job, as a graphic designer, I appreciate every detail you’ve put in here with the vectors.

On my part, I don’t have advanced knowledge on how to edit the parameters of the presets. I would like to remove the reflected border for handheld consoles; I think the Bezel effect looks great on TV consoles, but it feels odd for handheld ones.

Additionally, I noticed that certain presets have a very bright image, causing certain details to disappear or become hard to see.

For Game Boy Advance, for example, in Super Mario World, the background with the mountains is difficult to see. For GBA I use Gambatte default emulator.

Then, for Game Boy, I noticed that certain details are hardly visible, like the texture in the floor. When compared to another Game Boy preset you can see the difference. I use SameBoy default emulator for GB.

Could you help me with this, or do you have any guide that could be useful? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our little world! :grin:

If you save a core, game, or content directory preset, you can add the following line with a text editor.

HSM_REFLECT_GLOBAL_AMOUNT = "0.000000"

If you want to do it in the parameters dialog, Press the “HOME” button on your controller, or “F1” on your keyboard. Go to Quick Menu >> Shaders >> Shader Parameters, then use page down and the arrow keys to find this parameter.

Use the d-pad or arrow keys to change the default from 40.00 to 0.00, then save a core, game, or content directory preset.

I’m not positive you should be able to see the mountains in the title screen, but…

Near the beginning of the parameters list you will find the [CRT BRIGHTNESS & GAMMA] settings.

You can mess with them a bit, or near the end of the list (Relatively. :wink:) you will find these.

The GBA uses the LCD-GRID base preset and should look the same as the standalone shader version. I haven’t tried changing the colors much.

I suspect @HyperspaceMadness will soon add a new base shader option.

The Mega Bezel doesn’t currently have a Game Boy base shader. I used a lot of Mega Bezel tricks to come as close as I could, but it isn’t perfect. You can try adjusting the [TUBE DIFFUSE IMAGE] Gamma.

Eventually we will have a game Boy base preset. (Maybe sooner than later. :innocent:)

When that day comes I will use it in favor of the methods I am using now.

Thank you for your kind words and feedback. :star_struck:

You are welcome, and everyone involved is thankful for your kind words. Believe me when I say we all do this for our love of the community. :grin:

I think part of the issue is the native resolution doesn’t allow for enough pixels to accurately render the mask, so there is some blending. For these I think the ADV instead of the Smooth might help.

Alternatively, since we don’t have enough pixels to generate the mask, you could just turn it off.

You could also try a mask that isn’t a magenta mask, mask 7 for example.

Hi all,

Probably a silly question… I’m using the SNES-[ADV]-[Guest]-[Bezel]-[Night] bezel but I’m curious if it’s possible to use it with one of the Scale FX shaders? Or with any other shader for that matter.

Thanks!

If by “any other shader” you mean the standalone ScaleFX, the answer is no.

However you can change the base preset reference to an ADV-Smooth preset, which uses ScaleFX.

If you open the SNES-[ADV]-[Guest]-[Bezel]-[Night] preset, there are instructions in the top section on changing the base preset reference. It should be pretty clear, but if not, read my Boilerplate Introduction guide for info on changing the base preset.

If you still have questions after you do the reading, please post here again and I will answer them.

Welcome to the forum!

This is a very long thread, with over three years of posts and replies. :grinning:

Buried among them are many requests for arcade systems. I will say again what I have always said… I don’t do arcade systems. :upside_down_face:

That being said, I have taken great pains to make my MAME cabinet graphics and presets customizable. Even with very little graphics editing experience it would be easy to customize the preset with system logos from those manufacturers.

To make it even easier, the Libretro Discord Overlays channel has a pinned link to some available logos.
