Duimon - HSM Mega Bezel Graphics and Presets - Feedback and Updates

That is a side effect of the glcore video driver. It should have been fixed by HSM using wildcards but it seems there my be a regression in RA. I’ve seen a few reports recently.

There is a “flip viewport vertical” parameter to fix it.

That did it. Is it possible to completely do away with scanlines in MAME? I would like to use the reflection shaders with no filters at all for my entire collection.

Holy shit I figured it out! No-Scaline Mode set to 1.00 then added a Super Eagle Filter (or whatever filter you desire) and it worked! Look so damn good on a OLED I can now get some sleep! Goodnight ya’ll

Well, since we’re talking about Arcade, I’ll comment on how my work is going, I’ve tried all the horizontal graphics, everything is going well, now the only thing missing is the vertical ones.

I leave you a preview of the latest graphics I made so that the wait is shorter.

And with Naomi and Atomiswave I have realized that it makes no sense to use scanlines.

Hi, I’m not able to apply the Atari Lynx vertical preset. I rotate the core in Retroach but only the screen rotates, the background image does not. What am I missing here? Also, the Lynx Alt preset fails to load. Using the latest release and advanced settings. Thanks

I am a bit confused…

There is no Atari Lynx “Vertical” preset in my current release.

Lynx-[ADV]-[LCD-GRID].slangp
Lynx-[ADV]-[LCD-GRID]-[Night].slangp
Lynx_Alt-[ADV]-[LCD-GRID].slangp
Lynx_Alt-[ADV]-[LCD-GRID]-[Night].slangp

All the rotation is done automatically.

It appears I mistakenly removed a required params file thinking it was no longer needed.

It will be fixed in the next update. (Although there is no ETA.)

Sorry I meant the vertical background image that should be enabled automatically when the rotation is done. The preset is either normal or night version. When using that preset, I rotate the core and the background image does not rotate automatically. What am I doing wrong?

If this is what you’re looking for I would suggest looking at Presets/Variations/Smoothed/SMOOTH-ADV_4_Super-Smooth.slangp.slangp

It has some phosphor mask on it but you can turn that off in the guest parameters at the bottom of the parameters list, just set crt mask to -1

These are set up using wildcards that detect the rotation expected by the core. So you shouldn’t have to do any manual rotation. In core settings, make sure “Auto-rotate Screen” is set to “auto”.

The beauty of this is that it will use the correct orientation of the Lynx for games that required counter clockwise vs. clockwise rotation of the handheld.

You will need to close your content and open it again to see the change in behavior.

I think I know where my problem lies. I’m using Handy. Need to change the core to Beetle. Thanks!

I think you are on to something. It looks like the Handy core doesn’t have auto rotation.

I think this means I still need some vertical presets just for the handy core, although I’m not sure it offers any must have features.

I changed the core to Bettle. Non-vertical games work fine. Vertical games look like this

Auto-rotate is set to auto.

I think the issue is now with the RA “allow rotation” setting… it needs to be off.

By turning the RA setting off nothing happens. Here’s what I got

Well it is no longer squished, so that is good.

Here’s what I get when I load the preset.

So it must be something on your end.

Look in your “Mega_Bezel_Packs\Duimon-Mega-Bezel\res\scale\Atari_Lynx” folder. Do you see these three files?

CORE-REQ-ROT-0.params
CORE-REQ-ROT-270.params
CORE-REQ-ROT-90.params

Increase Backgroung Smooth to 1.00 (gameboy.slangp).

Yes, those three files are there.

Here’s what I have found out so far. When I load the preset - and if the game is vertical - I will get the same result as you did.

The problem comes after I save the preset under core or content directory and exit Retroarch. When I load the game again everything gets back to normal without auto-rotation.

I get the same results. I’ll have to talk with @HyperspaceMadness to see if he has any ideas why.

I may need to change my wildcard methods, or it could be a wildcard bug.

Please be patient while we sort this out.

Can you double check that you don’t also have a preset saved for the game?

I ask this because technically when you save a preset, the saved file is immediately reloaded in retroarch, so if there was a problem you should see it immediately after you save the preset.

I did a clean install of Retroach and Duimon’s to be sure and I got the same results. By saving the preset, the auto rotation is lost the next time I open Retroach. I didn’t have a preset saved for the game.

Additionally, if I repeat the process (i.e. loading the same preset on top of the saved one) while still in Retroach, it changes to vertical mode immediately. However, after saving it again, the next time I open Retroach it gets back to horizontal mode.
