That’s funny. I called them “pistons” in my source.
From one of many posts where I answer this question.
Here’s a WIP shot of the SuperGrafx.
All the elements are off screen, (And masked.) so it is just a matter of moving them around, within the masks, to make the one that shows the whole piston and logo.
This is still pretty rough and will change a bit.
Pretty cool, I like the Machine feel too it
Here’s a last WIP for the day.
Baby steps.
You’d have to be as OCD as I am to see all the little changes, and a lot of it is in the source. It is coming along nicely.
With this final piece to the puzzle, I am confidant that this project has by far the most complete NEC set available. That makes me happy.
seriously i love it thank u!
Another question to the creator of HSM Reflection Shader… Why this preset doesn’t exist anymore ?
hsm__MEGABEZEL__4__SIMPLE__REFLECT-ONLY__GUEST-DrVENOM.slangp
Impossible to use (without this preset) Orion Angel’s overlay like this one : My New Rayman, Bezel with HyperspaceMadness’s Shader - YouTube
@Orionsangel himself has stated that his shaders will only work with the old version of the shader.
It is not impossible for it to work. Setting it up with the Basic Border with Reflection preset would be easy using the Place by Image method.
If you want to use his overlays without modification you will need a separate installation of Retroarch and the old version of the shader.
The new shaders don’t work for me. When I set it all up it messed up all my bezel settings. After several attempts at fixing it I quit and I reverted back to the old shaders and everything got fixed. I hope to figure it out at some point. I’m not as tech savvy as you guys.
There were really big changes between the old version released August 2020 and the new one released in 2021. Some of the parameter names changed, and some of the parameter ranges changed, so E.G. A parameter was 0-1 became 0-100. There won’t be any more sweeping changes like this.
What I recommend is starting fresh with the latest. I’m not sure if you set your image in the preset rather than use an overlay, but with the new shader you can have a workflow where the screen can be automatically scaled to the transparent hole in the bezel image.
When you get your bezel settings the way you like all you would need to change the image for each preset, and no need to manually fit the tube.
So with one preset file with no overlay config or override video custom aspect ratio you can have the graphic and scaled tube.
I can set up an example if you like, let me know if you’re interested
wow ok… just perfect thank you. a little question. Have y change the arborescence?
The folder structure?
Are you using the graphics and presets that can be installed using Git?
There were a huge amount of changes to make that happen.
If you are not using that version then please read the first two posts in this thread.
Great job, you have been very good, I also asked for it a long time ago the one from supergrafx
Small update to the SuperGrafx.
I was in a hurry and failed to notice that the text labels for the power switch were too bright and the power switch knob drop shadow was layered under the text instead of over it.
The repo has been updated.
@Leatherface and everyone.
I am taking this post by @TheNamec…
…as a personal request, from an esteemed peer, and adding some Amiga systems to my list.
I will be doing the C64c…
…the Amiga 1000
(For this one I am going to add the IBM Sidecar to the graphic and it can be used for DOSBox as well as Amiga.)
… the Amiga 2000
…and the Amiga 4000T
For completion’s sake I will also be doing a Commodore VIC-20, a Commodore 128, and an Amiga 500 Plus.
The VIC-20, C64c, C128, and 500 Plus, will probably bear some resemblance to the CPC duo. The 1000 and 2000, the NEC PC-8801 and 9801. The 4000T, the DOSBox graphic.
So the new list is…
- Thomson TO8
- TI-99/4A
- MSX
- MSX 2
- Nintendo Virtual Boy
- Atari 800
- Atari XE
- Atari ST
- Sharp X1
- Commodore VIC-20
- Commodore 64c
- Commodore 128
- Amiga 500
- Amiga 1000
- Amiga 2000
- Amiga 4000T
- MAME SL MegaDuck
- Apple 2e
- Apple 2 GS
- Casio PV-1000
- Emerson Arcadia 2001
- Entex Adventure Vision
- Epoch Super Cassette vision
- Gamepark GP32
- Hartung Gamemaster
- Watara Supervision
- Fujitsu FM-7
- Fujitsu FM towns
That leaves 16 systems on the RA core todo list. (A lot less than the ~88 I started with.)
For the Sharp X1, instead of the traditional red desktop or keyboard, I am doing the X1 twin, which looks a lot like the x68000. (Interesting that it has an HE system logo like some of the NEC.)
I want to make my work stand out from the crowd.
It is really hard to know what color the plastic was back in the day. All we see are yellowed plastic or restored plastic. (Which I think is sometimes too clean.)
I think I like it a bit more yellowed.
I agree with the yellowish color.
I bring an update from me, Banpresto, Gaelco, Nintendo, Rare, SNK and Toaplan, there is less left.
A small point and a clarification that I will leave at the end of the captures.
Gaelco and Rare do not have vertical versions because they do not have vertical games.
And now to clarify, the other day a user asked me privately if my shaders have a switch to remove the controls below, that is, the lever and buttons, the answer is yes, they can be removed in the parameters of the shaders, in Decal Layer lower the opacity to zero, this is because my shaders have the same structure as those of duimon and the graphic of the controls is separate, advantages of using the Duimon material
Why haven’t I made a version without controls? Because that can be adjusted in the parameters, everything that is scanlines, reflections, opacity and other adjustments is up to the user, the important thing is that there are configurations for all tastes.
The next six, Atlus, Capcom, Cave, Jaleco, Psikyo and Raizing.
Very nice my friend. I am super glad you are doing this!
