How did you like that?

Hi,

how did you like my attached shader-preset? Its like the real deal from the past (genesis+super famicon-times) + hd up scaling. I think my games look now exactly like on the pictures from the actual game-boxes back then xD

Download: Favorit_Shader_Preset_1.2.zip (900 Bytes)

shaders in use: xbr, ntsc, blur, crt I use the newest nightly of retroarch (win-64, video aspect-ratio: 19:14)

How to: Download this Shader-Pack here (Download ZIP). Extract the .zip over your existing shaders in the retroarch directory -> shaders. Change your retroarch-shader-directorys in the attached Favorit.cgp-file (with notepad++ for example) and put my Favorit.cgp to the shader folder. Start your Retroarch and go to your shader-option-menu. Click than on Load Shader Preset and chose my Favorit.cgp-file than click on Apply Shader.

OR

You can look at this pictures (you can found them in the Favorit.zip too) and make your own shader-preset in retroarch.

here you can find some pictures from genesis and super famicon (in action it looks far better as on the pics):

here you can find the whole gallery.

if you wan’t to, you can just copy & paste the following Code in your own .cgp-File: but don’t forget about your own retroarch directory-path (marked red)

I’ve updated my shader preset - it has now brilliant crt-colors - thx to hyllian (crt-caligari.cg). I think its now the best shader-preset out there. no stupid scanlines (i really can’t remember them back then), no paint drawing-effect, veeery classic + hd = best of both worlds - its like on the old magazines or packages.

Now its only missing the extra svideo-gauss-effect.

Any chance of a screenshot or two ? There’s no pics showing in your first post. I downloaded your preset and changed the shader path to match mine but no luck getting it to work.

Go and download this Pack (Download ZIP). Extract it over your existing shaders - its required and change all the the paths. All my Screens are on the first topic (8)?!

Alright I have updated the pictures on the first topic.

Thanks for the screenshots but are they as blurry in use as they are in the pics ? The pics made me think there was something wrong with my vision for a moment. But hey if you like it like that that’s cool, all personal taste but not my taste.

try it - you can change the blur to your preferred taste in the shader-options - but really, the game looks and plays just amazing on a 2560 x1440 screen (video-aspect ratio in retroarch: 19:14)!

Little too blurry on screenshots but overall good direction

did you guys play the games on the actual consoles? back than it was a little blurry, you know xD See here, original screenshot from Street Fighter II on the famicon: http://gamesdbase.com/Media/SYSTEM/Nintendo_SNES/Snap/big/Street_Fighter_II-The_World_Warrior-1992-_Capcom_Co.,_Ltd…jpg

but it looks in real action far better than on my screens above (my opinion)… just try it please

This particular screenshot is blurry cuz of upscale… and jpg artifacts

are you serious?

and now? http://www.pic-upload.de/view-30313423/Unbenannt-1.jpg.html http://www.pic-upload.de/view-30313707/Unbenannt-2.jpg.html

sorry, but 20 years ago there were no flat-screens with 1080p or 720p resolution xD - they supposed to be a little bit blurry. Did you ever played on the original consoles?

This preset doesnt look like any game from the past, that we played on a CRT. NONE of them. Looks like smeared, blurred shit, with no scanlines and shadowmask, but that is just IMHO. If you like it on your big screen, have fun.

xD than I played as a child without my glasses on xDDD

OMG do me a favor, never play with the real console on an old crt with composite/svideo - it will destroy your world you live in :frowning: Composite vs Component

I don’t know how it looked on your ntsc-genesis with component, but on my german megadrive (pal) with composite it really looked even blurrier …

see for yourself: Composite vs MY PRESET

The pictures on the first topic are made in 1980 x 1080 - with the retroarch-engine. my ratio and screen resolution is a bit higher than that, so the pictures I made, are a bit blurrier. You shouldn’t be a rocket scientist to understand this, but I think here are just young folks around …
xD than I played as a child without my glasses on xDDD do me a favor, never play with the real console on an old crt with composite/svideo - it will destroy your world you live in :frowning: Composite vs Component …
well take in consideration the resolution/tecnlogy of that years 320x240 in some tv’s CRT

and some modes are not for CRT’s monitors, only for plasma/led monitor for look like CRT’s

This preset combines the old look & feel with no interfering in the picture (like scanlines, shadowmask…), to make the picture like on the illustrations back in the 90s, but without the painting effect (like in xbr-only, xsal-only, hdx-only)

to make it easy to understand my intention for you folks:

old look & feel: a bit blurry, s-video gauss

HD, no fragment effects: xbr

= Awesome

Listen, i still have many original hardware/consoles that i play on a CRT. Whenever i can i try to play even the emulators on a CRT. I never played with compo-shit in the past and i never do now. I play component/RGB whenever possible. Your shader setup consists of xbr+blur and you praise it as the best shader preset outthere… LöL.

The following pictures shows Rayman on PS1 via RGB on a CRT, sadly recorded with a shitty handy, wrong angle (not orthogonal) and cant represent 100% how it real looks, but i can tell you its sharper and has even more details. The second picture shows you all the details, that all of your pictures with your shaders miss, mainly scanlines and shadowmask.

Show me where Rayman is nearly as smeary, blurry and shitty like in your pictures???

yeah sure - you sitted back than 3 mm’s in front of your crt to get such a “nice” picture xD I don’t have the Game to make comparisons, but I’m not orgasm on fuck*ng pixels

its all about the overall look & feel … try my preset and then burn me (If you like to)

btw. I only got genesis and famicon games

yeah, this its like look rayman in a crt if u used compsosite, but if u have that result, are bad comfigured

i dont remenber bt i used the compsosite out from Triden VGA and in Linux Debian VenenuX dont look so ugly

old look & feel: a bit blurry, s-video gauss

HD, no fragment effects: xbr

U CANNOT INTEN MADE HD CAPABILITIES IN THE POOR TV RESOLUTION AND REFRESH RATES!

and u intent remenber old times in u’r last great tv monitor at 2k resolution capabilities, no way, i’ts not that u think, by example scanliness its a special mode to look like very older tv in a out

you guys flame me on the pictures I made? Try first the preset

i see the pictures, its in any way great results

That would be nice shader for PS1 games…
