from memory, a good test would be the Bombs/Rockets in Gradius 3 (snes or arcade), and looking at the pics, I’d guess strength/setting 1 (2nd pic), or 0.4 (3rd pic).
Don’t have time to test myself this evening, but will take a look at the options tomorrow if the code is still in the dev repo.
UPDATE:
had a chance to look/play. Based on the current code, my sweetspot was 90/.45-.50.
The challange here is I guess it comes down to personal preference (as always), and what you are trying to replicate/emulate.
Any higher than .50 creates too much phosphor blur with non-sprite backgrounds (Gauntlet/Ghouls and Ghosts etc),
