Lakka.tv often freezes on Intel NUC (NUC5PPYH)

Hello,

I had bought a new machine and now i’m in big trouble :stuck_out_tongue:

Lakka.tv is freezing after few minutes and sometime it didnt boot (only black-screen) :frowning:

The Mini-PC is brandnew and has hynix-memory inside (chosen by intel compatiblylist - exactly!) (The System has passed a Memtest via selfboot Image without any errors)

i used a AMD Fusion E-350 before and had no trouble with lakka at all, are there any setting in the Bios wich must be set or something else wich could i do ?

EDIT:

here are some log-files:

http://pastebin.com/Rss6cSqW

log after restart after freeze http://pastebin.com/6S59tRgW

more logs (video, audio, mesg … ) http://pastebin.com/KcSPhfVJ

unfortunately i cant make o log via putty when the system is freezed (system needs to be hard-reseted by holding power for ~5 seconds)

has disabled video threaded and it seems to be better now. but still freezed randomly but not so often (especialy on opening, closing games - especially at 32x and n64 games) n64 is still broken on my system (hangs up at the first few screens). Problems with booting the system are maybe better too but not totally gone (freeze at the flower / or blackscreen before menu).

my video settings are like shown at the picture

in Bios/Efi i have load default setting (no fast boot or other modifications). only IGD Minimum Memory is set to 512 MB instead of 32 MB. had Installaled lakka via efi-image and made a online update.

The System is connected to TV with a HDMI Cable (for Audio&Video)

As Controller i used a X-Box360 Wireless pad + (chineese-)adapter

The best thing would be to get us a log of it freezing so we can see if there’s something causing it on RetroArch/Lakka’s end.

how can i get to the command line ?

thank you, but my english is really bad and with linux i havent done anything till now (except installing openelec / lakka)

You’ll need to ssh into the Lakka machine from another computer. If that’s outside of your abilities, the next best thing is probably to try and reinstall and see if that resolves your issues (that is, in case something went wrong during the installation).

have try reinstall several times. without result. now i’m trying another ddr3l-ram module. had read that linux is very delicate in “memory-things”. if it will solve the problem i write here again

It freezes also in live mode ?

You are using uefi bootor legacy boot ?

As requested by hunterk, it will be great to get some log. Please read the documentation about how to access Lakka system command line.

Thank you.

hello, didn’t try the live mode yet - had installed via efi-image (nightly) and legacy-bios-image (last stable). booth installations have the same freezing-issues on my system.

hello, now i have changed the System Memory - 4 times (1st hynix, 2nd onother hynix, 3rd crucial and now kingston value - all chosen via the the intel-compatibility-list)

freezed again after a few minutes in the lakka-menu :frowning:

EDIT EDIT: tried efi, bios, live all with the same result.

same (freezing-) issues here, with a nuc5ppyh. any ideas ?

seems to be a linux problem with this system or the braswell architecture in generally

there it was fixed in kernel if i understand it right… http://sprunge.us/IOWj

any chance this fix will be available for lakka too ?

here i read it … http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=269815&page=34

We are using kernel 4.6.3 for PC.

Can you check if Setting tab > Video > Video threaded is set to false ?

hello again, have done a memtest this night. 9 hours without a problem. now it seem to be cleary that it must be another issue (try extra hard at memory this time, because i had similar trouble few years ago.) but now i will try all (the linux things^^) to give you the needed information to fix the problem.

Video threaded is set as default (true)

Thank you for the patience

Hi,

Is it possible to set video threaded to false and check if it fixed your issue.

Thank you for your tests.

has disabled video threaded and it seems to be better now. but still freezed randomly but not so often (especialy on opening, closing games - especially at 32x and n64 games) n64 is still broken on my system (hangs up at the first few screens). i used the ssh (via putty) to create a log

here it is… http://pastebin.com/Rss6cSqW

log after restart after freeze http://pastebin.com/6S59tRgW

more logs (video, audio, mesg … ) http://pastebin.com/KcSPhfVJ

unfortunately i cant make o log via putty when the system is freezed

can i do anything else ?

You already tried to set configuration to video_monitor_index = “1” ? Don’t forget to stop retroarch before editing the configuration file.

thank you. i can try this tommorrow in the evening.

Hello, N64 (goldeneye - us) freezed again after few minutes but all other platform/menu-freezes seems to be gone. What exactly do this “video_monitor_index” setting? and is this setting “permanently” or i have to redo it after a lakka-update ?

Thank you very yery much!!!

EDIT: f*ck freezed again at boot (after 15 or 20 times whre the system is bootet up normaly). only hard-reset (hold power) helps :frowning:

(try another SSD next days…)
