Mednafen Saturn core?

Has there been any changelogs to the core yet? Fixed the bios issue yet? Any new features added?

So Astal is all good now?

DR9, It is is the changelog. I have not had problems with the BIOS. Check the md5sum http://forum.fobby.net/index.php?t=tree&th=1333&start=0&

jnsl, Astal and other games on the list run me perfect.

The core was updated to the latest source which includes the fixes alexb3d linked. I asked Radius about hooking up the 3D pad and auto setting the BIOS time yesterday. He said the 3D pad should be feasible, but wasn’t sure if there was an env for passing the PC’s system time to the BIOS. Not 100% sure what that means, but I’m guessing RetroArch/Libretro might not have a way to give cores the system time yet, so that would be harder to implement.

Still the same. The 3dpad still does not work, you have to put the bios manual time. What I read in the forum Mednafen, the priority is to correct errors, achieve 100% emulation.

So Astal is all good now? Nope it’s still an awful game.

In what way it is horrible? I just play and runs perfect, Video Intro, sound, Game play… “Pixel Perfect” ISO Redump, USA. Mednafen saturn is not compatible with PAL games.

It is one of the 4 games that corrected in the latest update. 0.9.39.1 “Astal”, “Hi-Octane”, “Panzer Dragoon”, and “Panzer Dragoon 2” http://forum.fobby.net/index.php?t=tree&th=1333&start=0&

I don’t quite understand. Is the core already available? I don’t see it in the core updater, nor in the buildbot.

It’s only available in 64 bit, so if you’re using 32 bit RetroArch you won’t see it.

Pretty sure I am running the 64 bit version, though. I’ll try a separate install and see what happens.

EDIT: Nevermind, I actualy found the core in the online updater. I hadn’t found it before because it wasn’t grouped together with the other Mednafen cores. However, I couldn’t get it to work. When I try to load a game, I get sent back to the XMB and the core unloads.

Mednafen-Saturn-Libretro (Beetle-Saturn-Libreto) It is testing / nightly. https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/linux/x86_64/latest/

To play, you need the exact BIOS. http://mednafen.fobby.net/documentation/ss.html#Section_firmware_bios

…well duh. No wonder it wasn’t working. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks.

…well duh. Of course it wouldn’t work without the BIOS. Thank you.

By the way, are European releases not supported yet? US and JP titles work fine for me, but I wasn’t able to run any EU ones.

From what I have read. I understand that they will not give support PAL (Euro)

That’s a shame. I did manage to get them working with a region patcher though, so it’s not a big issue.

Good thing I did not know. I need it for several in Spanish.

I think PAL will get supported at one point. I didn’t see anything about “no support ever”.

To support PAL, they need BIOS Euro and they will not be implemented for now. I’m not worried much. All “Euro” games are in English. No exclusive games in Spanish.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Now it just needs to be added to the core.
