still thanks for the help
nope. official statement from optician. had no clue this was a thing as I thought LCD monitors were harmless
@sonkun is there a way to make the black levels higher
this is not black enough there is black level & can set it to -15.0 but it needs to go lower i could force it via the slang config file that that option is not working anymoreB, you have to change Base (black) Mask Strength to 0.00 down at the bottom of Mask options.
Sonkun I am wondering if you will be changing the Base (black) Mask strength to 0.00 for your presets now that multiple people with OLED/Plasma TV’s and monitors have weighed in that the setting is incorrect on both Full and Limited color options?
Likely this was a black crush or an ALM thing you have going on with your LCD that leads to it not appearing gray on your end.
That probably would work if that area of the screen was more on the black scale, it’s more of a dark grayish color even with no shader:
Probably either lowering “post brightness” or raising the contrast setting will darken that area more for you. Then again I think that contrast setting was giving you the “black screen but can still hear sound” issue.
Hmm that’s a good question. I get darker blacks on my TV from a setting I enabled on my set up, so far I believe it’s mostly pc monitor users (especially 1440p) I’ve noticed having that issue. I figure oled users should be good since I’m always seeing people throw around “perfect blacks” on those things.
For me that setting is perfect, in fact with this recent issue from above I noticed that setting actually got rid of moire patterns in those dark areas which caught me by surprise, I’m always trying to reduce moire any chance I get. But yeah I’m not sure what I’ll do, I actually want more testing done especially from oled users if they get “grayish blacks” from that setting.
fixed it got a old version of crt guest
How did that fix it though? Let me see a image what you were aiming for. Also what do you plan to do going forward? I’m already working on my next pack incorporating those new settings guest.r just added into his latest update.
Oh that issue. I definitely see it’s blended again but then now what, you plan to just stay with that old release? The sonkun presets get updated periodically you know. I rather you try to solve the issue that was happening on the latest release or moreso the release that I used on my current pack from the link in my first post. The latest guest.r update flipped a few things around that I need to rearrange so probably not good to use his latest update yet.
if your preset has blending from dithering & has a pal warm preset i use the newest
It will like it always has been lol. In any case I’ll let you know right away when I release the next pack, I’ll ping you on discord.
