Should I always use BGR mask instead of RGB, if I have 4k BGR TV?
Here’s two screenshots: 1 - BGR, 2 - RGB
As I look through this thread, I’m pretty sure I have no idea what scanlines really used to look like. I thought I did… but I think I don’t.
CyberLab Megatron miniLED Death To Pixels 4K HDR Shader Preset Pack
hi tell me do you recommend which brand of screen to use it is HDR shader
The brand of the screen doesn’t matter. Read the first post here for more information.
Testing out a new preset that emulates slotmask vibes without being a real slotmask to look good on 1080p (Monitor-New_slotmask_rgb.slangp in 1.9.63 release):
This time a real slotmask. To hide the weird patterns it usually produces at 1080p, instead of just hiding the scanlines, this time I opted for highering their minimum height:
Hey, you’re a genius man! I really admire your work.
We’re really spoiled for choice here when it comes to shaders.
Take in this video I made with an old 1080p camcorder to try to show what Sony Megatron looks like to me as opposed to how dark it might look in screenshots.
Thanks, but I wouldn’t say that, since it took me “just” almost 3 years to realize that
…I’ll probably add a way to koko-aio to lower the slotmask strength depending on the scanline height… still have to find a way that doesn’t impact performance too much.
…and yes, since i’ve got a 1080p 5.5’ oled retroid pocket 5, I’m using less and less mask mitigations too.
Always thought emulated Super Contra arcade looked like a grey mess compared to the old NES port I used to play back in the days… I was wrong. Thanks to you people who gave us all those shaders and presets to make it look like the idealized CRTs of old we have in our memories. You’re doing for me the equivalent of those audio engineers who digitally recreated the distortion effects of amps that added so much more caracter to music records. I just couldn’t play without now, I even use them in VR.
If you want to test the preset for Guest.r’s shader is available here for 4k, and here for 1080p. Should work with lots of older arcade games of the late 80s, with the shader’s key parameter “raise black value” set to around -60, but YMMV. Played on FBNeo core with vertical mode activated in the core options to get those vertical tate scanlines. This game is hungry for coins, I’ve spent a solid week on it, would have lost a fortune without savestates XD. Next Contra game to beat for me : Hard Corps!
Leveraging the new de-hive™ slotmask function; first 3 shots shares almost the same settings (but superfrog where the slotmask steepness has been increased to gain some brightness).
…I know they may look a bit dirty, depending on the viewing distance, but it was a test to push the slotmask as high as possible on purpose.
looking great, that space harrier looks amazing!
Is this already available to try?
Sure, here are the parameters used; put the preset in the same folder as koko-aio-ng.slangp
You need the very latest dev version, because the dehive function is required.

Shaders for 480i/p aren’t much popular, but they still can provide improvements. Here’s a quick sample:
