Please show off what crt shaders can do!

On which console? Also to mention, what CRT? My CRT is a Sanyo and has a slotmask, and I’m copying the look of my CRT. Now looks very close to my CRT.

Is the arcade version running on FBneo on my lcd! :innocent:

Looks good! You gave me an Idea, I’ll make a screenshot with my settings to see how it looks

Your slot-mask is looking great, on the photo as well as in the screenshot!

Unfortunately, on my monitor (1080p) slot-mask does not really work well, I tried many different combinations and also presets from the community but there is always something off-looking…

But with my current mask settings [Powered by guest adv ™ ] I’m very happy! is probably not accurate but the whole picture and final result looks good to me

here’s the RA screenshot

In this one (parodius upside down volcano ) you can see a close-up of what’s happening

I have a 1080p settrings on my thread, you can download and try it if you want, it’s not perfect, but it looks like this:

Yes! Looks fantasctic!

I tried your preset few times!

What I think is that (as I see in the previous screenshots and others that you post) your preset is very well made and looks very nice but not on my monitor , same with other presets from other people, probably my monitor is not good enough or just different.

Just now I tried RetroGames4K_1080P_Sanyo CE1AT08-C_Realistic_ArcadeTo make this preset usable on my side I have to lower mask and slot mask to around 60 and push post brightness up to 1.30. But still something is not right in the whole picture and balance (contrast, gamma? not sure)

On top of that with slot-mask presets I have to use int scaling :sob:

It is very difficult to show what I really see on my monitor but in this is photo on the left is my preset and your on the right (default settings).

At the end of the day to get the best picture when tweeking a shader is better to do it on the “target” monitor/display, but is good to share preset to get new ideas and try new things!

It’s not your fauIt, I relise that it still needs a bit of tweaking. It’s not your monitor, I will update it as well when I can.

Introducing…CyberLab CRT-Royale Death To Pixels Shader Preset Pack!

Tap on image then zoom in for best viewing. Desktop users, right click then Open in New Tab, then press F11 for FullScreen. Non 4K users, zoom in until it looks correct.

A work in progress preset using Guest adv NTSC shader, the goal is to have some level of “composite” feel but at the same time keeping a decent level of details and sharpness:

crt-beam after injecting “inversegamma” from Dogway

Not bad heh :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow!

Is this that thingy that allows you to maximize brightness without clipping?

Not bad at all! Looks almost perfect to me. Love the saturation levels and accuracy of the colours, clean edges and scanlines. Lots of detail to be had and edges look smooth but not blurry.

The only thing I would probably change is the dark halo around edges like the “TM” and I could also see it on the edges of the “Super Metroid” and other bright edges.

Tell me more about this shader. Is it included in RetroArch?

What’s going to be the future of “inversegamma”?

That shader is ‘crt-beam’ in GLSL. Didn’t ported to slang yet. Yes it is that function that recovers most of gamma lost due to scanlines/mask overlay. Didn’t spend much time investigating the function, but looks promising, works as it should already. Credits go to Dogway for this.

New release: crt-royale-1080p-v10

I toned down the diffusion parameter (it gives some kind of bloom aura) and tweaked some other parameters to compensate a bit so that the overall brightness is now more balanced. The old preset is renamed to crt-royale-1080p-bloom and is added to the pack, because I think it’s still good for dark games. And the last change is the folder where it should be installed. Now it should be put inside “shaders_slang” folder.

If you desire to test these presets on 4k displays, my tip is to change the parameter “Mask - Triad Size Desired” from 3.00 to 4.00.

EDIT: I can confirm bloom option is very good with BFI enabled in RA, at least for cheap monitors that lack brightness using this feature like mine. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know if this is the correct place to say this, but I need help! Does anyone know if this color is NTSC? I want to achieve this like in my CRT:

The blue colours tend to look more purple in general on the shaders, you can notice it more in the front tree area and the clouds, I Find the blue colours phosphors are not as dark than this:

Try the lut option 4.0, which produces a ‘ntsc colors’ look. Or you can prepend the ntsc colors preset from the /misc folder in the slang shaders folder.

Thanks for the answer, but I found and option called Grade colour. I know it’s not from your preset, I think is a Mega Bezel preset, I think that option has to do something about it, has to tend to correct colours and make them more strong, but I think it tends to be more purple. Apart from that I’m from Spain Europe, and I know colorus in Spain are pal. I set the colours to pal, about lut colours are in default 0 EBU and 0 trinitron. I will try to set lut colorus to 4 and make comparisons. Thanks for your help as always! :grinning:
