CyberLab Death To Pixels Shader Preset Packs

Which preset?

This is not surprising to me though.

By now, you’ll hear a repeating theme. You can use this Shader to combine your existing presets and existing backgrounds in order to get a reflective bezel.

If my presets are not working, why not try yours or someone else’s?

The reason you’re probably getting a black screen could be because my _BZL presets embed Sony Megatron’s HDR.slang into the final pass. I could be wrong but that could be the reason. Even if you tried to combine your own presets to work with the bezel you might encounter the same issue. Feel free to try though.

Do try the Vulkan driver. It could also be due to your particular nightly version of RetroArch. The non _BZL presets take a slightly different signal path if I recall correctly so that’s why they might remain unaffected.

Now I have actually run and seen my _BZL presets running on a system with HDR disabled or at least not enabled correctly in Windows so it may not be that. It could really be a system resource issue. In that case, try a few different cores and see if the same thing happens.

I appreciate the feedback. If the cause really is the embedding of HDR.slang and there is enough interest in SDR compatibility, it shouldn’t be too hard to decouple it and ensure that the shader is fully SDR compatible.

Nevermind.

Some presets loaded yesterday. Today all screen was black.

Needed to switch d3d11 video controller to Vulkan. I did not see this hint on installation instructions.

Well, now loaded:

CyberLab Guest 4K HDR Game Adaptive-Strobe 120Hz+ Genesis Composite CyberTron Smooth Advanced_BZL

I cannot see reflections on screen. Is there extra customization needed for it ?

Thank you

Okay found reflection Strength. Looks interesting around 0.70/1.00

Default 0.25 is very tiny.

Okay.

Feel free to share, tweak, play around and provide feedback but don’t do it in a way that’s not fun and exciting because it will just discourage, rather than encourage.

Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day and this is literally my first shader project.

Have you gotten through the entire readme? Is there anything you still don’t understand?

i will have to take a long time because its so much text, to read it all.

Just wondering for now, but are you using BG_5.png in any of the presets ? Just quick test from yesterday, I can only see golden TV reflections area, e.g:

CyberLab Guest Golden Bezel SNES With Actual Golden Bezel - Fixed Paths

Thank you for all the help, your time and this unique projectt / overlay.

It’s ironic that you’ve complained about the amount of text in the readme on more than one occasion, yet in the same breath complained about undocumented hints missing in the readme.

You know what you can do instead of reading through all of it? You can copy and paste it in one of your favourite AI translators and ask it to read it aloud for you.

You can even follow the steps in parts.

For example, you’ve gotten through with the installation on your system. Next read the instructions on how to setup your RetroArch Video–>Scaling settings correctly then save those settings as a Core or Game Override.

Well it is CyberLab Golden Bezel after all.

The colours are adjustable in the shader parameters menu.

I can’t remember if I packaged it in this build but there’s going to be a colour picker tool included to.assist with setting the RGB values for whatever colour youf trying to match.

I could only see the TV reflections like on screen above, but that’s just TV specific area. I mean if its also incorporated this TV overlay I saw within the files. Either on same used preset or the others.

I really like these TV overlays. It gives a lot of realism to the already very good cores, but TV reflections are the final step in realism to me.

I bet developers can always keep impressing even further on future, but this is all what I’m looking for now.

You can’t see the TV background / overlay because you haven’t even followed the first steps in the readme. Is there an issue with using translation software that I should be made aware of?

:joy:

okay sorry, will have to take a look on the text file then. I found it easier to ask here.

Do you know when v1.22.2 will get a new official stable update ? so then can use this project there

thank you

Did some tests yesterday. Does it look decent enough ? Not sure about the HUD.

And about TV overlay, did you draw ?

Really like those overlays. So much creativity around.

In the meantime, you remembered me some works around that did long ago for another TV overlay. It needs some time to make the game in proper place.

And didnt know that 3840 x 2160 (4k) images would not load but 1920 x 1080 actually do.

Thank you for the cool content.

3840 x 2160 images would load provided you have the system resources. I haven’t tested with lower resolution images. Did you downscale/downsample the images to 1920 x 1080 or 1600 x 900? You can try that to save some VRAM but make sure you keep the alpha transparency.

No, I generated it using my Dual GPU GTX 1070 AI workstation and one of my GPUs died yesterday unfortunately.

I wonder if anyone has any old GPUs lying around that they don’t want or need anymore.

Yeah, I really like these as well but I doubt I’ll be supplying many overlays or backgrounds inside the main zip because once you change the BG, you sort of invalidate any preset you setup using another background or in this case potentially group of backgrounds.

Users actually have to keep track of which presets use which backgrounds unless they want to go through the steps of manually renaming the background pointers to something unique each time.

By the way, the use of Simple presets is strongly recommended as using Full Presets can and probably will break presets in future updates.

This has been a popular question for the RetroArch development team over the past months.

yes, i downscaled to 1080p size.

Its strange. I thought it was another issue with this project, but actually found it by intuition. There should be some hint somewhere to say that 4K overlay images dont load. But i dont really know what triggers this to not show up.

In menu, overlay was loaded, but nothing was shown, till fixing the size.

I have an old GTX 460, even though that may sound too old for you ? (2011)

One day was watching a stream and rebooted, with green lines on screen, then never again showed image. I was said it died, but also know that could get fixed with reballing (if recall correctly to be its name).

That’s just what i have

There won’t be a hint for every single little detail you discover along the way in the readme. Remember you already find it contains too much text. For additional hints and tips users can easily visit this thread.

The readme as well as the project targets a limited minimum subset of hardware available. That does not mean that that is the only hardware that the software will successfully run on. So be happy that it works with what you have and feel free to share what you’ve learned and discovered right here.

Thanks man. It might not be worth the cost of shipping.

just my very small tweak, @edinwolf

in 1920x1080

1600x900 screen intended (i dont have bigger monitor resolution available)

menu > video > scaling custom aspect ratio X: 195 Y position: 111 width: 911 height: 644

preset: crt-guest-advanced from last update, around july 21 2026 but modded

#reference "crt-guest-advanced-ntsc.slangp"
ntsc_rainbow1 = "1.000000"
RFNOISE = "1.000000"
RFNOISE1 = "0.550000"
RFNOISE2 = "0.700000"
HSHARPNESS = "5.000001"
SIGMA_HOR = "0.800000"
S_SHARP = "0.900000"
warpX = "0.130000"
warpY = "0.250000"
csize = "0.050000"
bsize1 = "0.180000"

Set Menu Aspect Ratio to Full and Integer Scale to Off (like all other reflective Bezel Shaders instruct users to do)

Those custom aspect ratio setting in the readme are for the non _BZL presets.

Reflective Bezel and Background presets rely on having access to the full viewport to display properly. You will find all the aspect ratio, positioning, scaling and resizing parameters you need in the shader parameters as intended.

Please stop doing this the wrong way and follow the instructions.

The guy asked for this preset i did. It was a short way to see it fully functional.

Also, your TV overlay is still 4k. If he does not have 4k monitor (most probably), then preset will not work fully functional as intended, still.

I don’t think that’s true. The image is supposed to automatically scale and be displayed at whatever resolution the screen supports. The reason you were not seeing an image was because you either didn’t have the same settings I just told you to set correctly incorrectly and/or a lack of system resources. I’m leaning towards the first.

Please don’t start distributing lowered quality version of my assets, separate from the package as a whole or you’ll risk fragmenting and confusing the user experience. Just direct the user to the CyberLab Golden Bezel Post on my thread and direct them to me if they need any assistance.

By not having the Aspect Ratio set to Full you were not allowing the Shader to draw the background image on the “Full” resolution 16:9 canvas. Instead the image was probably limited to the content Aspect ratio and resolution so was just drawn behind whatever you had displayed on the screen.

@Cyber I’ve seen you help a lot of cats on here, myself included.

This back n forth has been bizarre

It just goes to show that this world has many different types of people who think and operate “differently”.

I appreciate the support and imagine this is the very first support case I have to deal with for my new project.

Makes me afraid to ever release anything that I could actually make a living off of because “what if the product fails to tie your shoes and make your breakfast too?”

I mean, I had a choice to keep this to myself and enjoy it all the same. What I built is not just a shader, it’s a system for achieving a very particular experience. If you follow the steps you will be rewarded.

I’m from the 80s, maybe I’m just built differently but if you look at my journey, from where I started to where I am now and what I can do now, I’d say I came a long way. I would hope that I could be an inspiration to others. I’m definitely an inspiration to myself. Sheer determination drives me.

So lesson learned. You can’t please everyone and some folks act like they’re entitled to things working or operating the way they expect or imagine that they should, no matter how little they have had to put out or work to attain such an experience, in other words, they want the most for the least effort.

I never tried to fight anything against you or the project. Its very dishonest to now mark me as “the bad guy”.

I always praised your work from main first post, since years ago. Its very dishonest.

I just gave my opinion, which is just that. Some people may like extended texts, some others not.

Some people prefer simplier instructions, some others advanced stuff to work with.

I like Guest’s content because its Sober. Not fully immerse in text instructions, but just copy - paste and lets play with Parameters. Simple and fun.

I never have insulted all the way around (proof is historial above).

I just gave a sincere honest opinion about what I dislike, but just to improve, if possible for other people. Not the usual “everything is perfect and good!” Still, its my opinion.

I may just completely stop posting around, besides I rarely do it. Dont have the mood to stress around because something like giving an opinion. Censorship is everywhere because people cannot tolerate different opinions to their own, even without insulting.

Be that as it may, my words are sincere. I wish your project can reach out a lot of people, and just keep getting better and better.

Please dont take them as negative feedback, though.
