thank you for this last update
@Hari-82 hello On your future shader projects. You could add a tube shadow, an empty space in the tube, a black line edge, and reflection image scaling; it would be cool to create a vibe like in the image. If that is possible?
You know it’s not really that difficult to combine CRT beam and mask effect focused preset like hari’s and mine with graphics/overlay/bezel focused presets like Duimon’s and Soqueroeu’s which all use Mega Bezel.
All you have to do is make a new preset file with one of mine or hari’s presets as the first reference then add a second reference which points to one of Duimon’s or Soqueroeu’s presets.
For this to work though the presets in the second reference line must be converted to params format.
How do you convert presets to params versions?
First make a backup copy of the presets in a folder which resides alongside the original folder with the presets in slangp format.
Then using a mass text editor like Notepad++ you can add a second “#” or “//” to the beginning of the reference lines and that will comment them out.
Alternatively, you can remove the reference lines.
I tried all night, but I couldn’t do it. I wanted to start from Hari’s project with the shader 010 - Preset - A - Aperture Grill.slangp , but I couldn’t make it work. I even added the necessary stuff in the base folder, but nothing worked. In short, I gave up. It’s too hard for me; being a complete novice, I just don’t get it.
Hey! happy new year folks!
I think the easiest way to do it is by using uborder and modifying the overlay to have the “glass” texture but that’s a graphic thing more than a shader one! I will try to do something in the next few days, I’m not very good at doing this edits but I will try! if you find some high quality png share the link here!
Meanwhile I did a very small update and added a simple preset using uborder and the overlay by duimon, it will be just the case of replacing that overlay with a modded png version!
you can find it in ../hari/06 - Bezels/Uborder - By Hyllian/TV & Monitors/
This is a simplified version of what I posted from Duimon himself.
If you posted a log using pastebin we might be able to troubleshoot why it isn’t working for you. Most likely it’s a path issue or something. Duimon’s method simplifies that. If you want to use his method with other preset packs which don’t already have params versions of the presets you would have to just remove or comment out the first reference line in the graphics/overlay presets in order to convert them to params format.
This method is only going to work with Hari’s Mega Bezel presets though.
If you read from this post, you’ll see one of the first examples of this method being used:
You have to read at least the following 4 posts in order to get to the final solution.
The old method would be to just open one of Hari’s presets and change the reference line to point to Duimon’s presets or open one of Duimon’s presets and change the reference line to point to one of Hari’s presets.
Note again, all of the above methods assume that Mega Bezel is the Shader being used for both projects.
I’ve quickly made a modded png with the black border and some textured glass
Download here, extract the .png and .slangp files in the TV & Monitors
folder and then load test.slangp to give it a try!
I also included the Gimp file if you want to have a go with it, I just made a very rough job in few minutes
I don’t have photoshop at the moment and I know gimp very little
before
after
That’s it, I managed to do something
That reflection looks amazing!
New update, 02/01/2025
- Re-implemented HSM’s Megabezel presets
- Megabezel “Systems” presets use Duimon’s Potato’s Megabezel pack for background graphics
Thank you!
It is an HDRI environment, mapped onto a very large glass sphere, rendered at 1440x1080 with some post editing to dim/eliminate some lights near the center that caused a distraction.
The glass sphere was to simulate the spherical curvature of vintage TVs. I plan to do a cylindrical rendering at some point for tubes that use it.
New Update, 14/01/2025
- NTSC presets reworked (back to guest advance ntsc for most presets)
- added more megabezel presets
- various changes to base presets
- some uborder ntsc need to be re-worked…
@hari82 thank you so much for bringing your presets to the Megabezel “platform”. I tried your presets last night and they are very nice and as a 1080p user they improve the visual experience a lot and give more options to choose from. I can’t wait to try this new package of yours tonight. Thank you so much.
Thanks a lot! hope you will find some use of them!
thank you for the 040 - Preset - D - Aperture Grill - PVM
@ROBMARK85 I think I can easily add the advance version, I will look into it in the next few days!
@bactino glad you like it! also try that preset using overscale, I think that the scanlines in that preset benefit from the “extra” pixels…
Thanks, I removed the request because thinking about it I didn’t want to put you in difficulty and maybe give you more workload, but I thank you very much for your availability. I really appreciated your mega bezel variations, especially the PVM preset as @batcino also said - thank you very much.
Thanks!
But something went wrong. I have the latest Guest Shader that works alone, but Hari pack doesn’t!
EDIT: Sorry, the path was wrong.
@Hari-82, please help me remember where I saw the information about the differences between your preset variations (A, B, C, etc) ?
The uborder presets dont work. Are you working to these?
Log shows some files missing. Should this be working already?
