New CRT shader from Guest + CRT Guest Advanced updates

One question. Why BGR layout? My PC monitor is RGB, also My sanyo CRT Pixels Looks like RGB. thanks in advance…

Because it’s got much better subpixel spacing. RGB layout produces stripes on displays with RGB matrices (mask 6).

ok. thanks a lot. maybe is that what is missing. I’ll give it a try and I’ll post it as soon as I can…

Mask 12 is already sized for 4K, so you must use it at size 1. It’s width should be 7 and not 8, but correct me if I’m wrong. The only thing I’m not sure is how high should it be, but I’m using a height of 3 right now.

It looks like this (ignore the bloom):

Ok. I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the tip. I though it would be width of 8, but in your pic looks good.

Merçi!

Are you sure? CyberLab Composite-Pure is still there. Many if not most of my presets don’t use and additional smoothing like Scale Fx. Even in the recent ones that have it enabled, it is so subtle that you may not even realize it’s on due to the way I limit its strength.

You can also use my latest combo listed here:

With any of my Aperture Grille presets that use Mask 6, Size 2, you can switch it to Mask 12, Size 1 if you’re using a 4K screen and prefer that look. I still prefer Mask 6, Size 2 but I also like Mask 12, Size 1.

However, due to this:

you’re better off using a slightly older version of HSM Mega Bezel Reflection Shader or you might have to wait until Scanline Gamma Offset is re-added, hopefully in the next release.

Mask 12 is RRGGBBX, so it uses 7 pixels.

Here, use this post as reference. Note that old mask 12 doesn’t exist anymore, so 13 is now 12.

I tried mask 10 RGB size 2 width of 8 height 4. I like it better than BGR. here is an example. What do you think? I like it better now…

What do you think of a RRYGCBB mask? Saw it mentioned among the masks in include/subpixel_masks.h and decided to try adding it to Sony Megatron to see how it looked, and it’s quite nice! Same TVL as Mask 12, but brighter, so it’s kind of like a lower TVL version of Mask 11.

Here’s the subpixel structure: RxxRxxRGxxGxxGBxxBxxB

It was something crazy like this I was thinking might be a good match for weird OLED subpixel structures as a possible step up from the B&W masks.

Yes, check out the Sony Megatron shader thread, where the shader photos are indistinguishable from the real thing.

GDV has slightly different goals, it’s not focused as much on pure accuracy.

Take a look at these:

Much Much Better now. I’m starting to love this shader more and more

. Now looks more like my Sanyo CRT with black gaps and separation between Sub Pixels.

Looks great! What mask and settings is that?

It’s mask 10 all at full strength. The only thing is how to bright it up without losing detail on black gaps… Now is with 5 of halation, 5 mask bloom. I lowered down blur sigma. and this is with the CRT guest advanced.

Nice, I love that more people are going for the Slot Mask look, best mask to me. I was messing around with that mask bloom setting last night and I noticed simply raising it to 0.05 gives a nice boost in overall brightness. I might put out a new shader preset pack with that setting included.
